In passing...

It has been so long since I last blogged, I'm not sure I know how to do it anymore! It's been a busy life being a SAHM. My life revolves around Drake and when he eats, plays, and sleeps...which is just fine with me. But, sometimes I wonder if I'll ever have time to myself again. Probably not. Well, I have good and bad news. First the good.

Drake had his 2 month check up. His shots hurt me more than they hurt him! I tried so hard to keep it together at the doctor's office. Pat me on the back...I didn't cry in public! Ha! He weighed (at his checkup a week ago) 13.6 pounds and is 24 1/2 inches long! Big boy! The doctor said he was the size of an average 4 month old! I'm so glad. I don't know what I'd do with a little baby!

Now the bad. I just got in from Florida on Tuesday. I went down last Wednesday. My grandfather was in his last few days. He was moved from the hospital to his home on Wednesday where a nurse from hospice stayed around the clock. I won't go into the details, but he passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010. He was a wonderful grandfather and I know he is in a better place. He is with God and my grandmother, where he wanted to be. I love you Grandpa Dale. You will be greatly missed. :'( <3

Drake did well on the trip to Florida, but he lost out on a few naps during the day, which led to one crabby baby at night. Once he fell asleep, however, he was out. He will sleep anywhere from 9:30 to 5:30ish. Sometimes later, so I'm not complaining!

Snow in "the deep south"

Yeah, it snowed. Or should I say, "snowed"? (that's me with air quotes). But, I'm THRILLED!! Even though it looks like some dumped over a salt shaker outside, school was cancelled and Charles got to stay home today!!! We did nothing but hang out together with Drake and it was a wonderful day. Now, on to SUMMER!!!

Just the two of us...

Today is the first day I have been alone with Drake. All alone. I'm a little nervous! I am used to having Charles here with me. But, he is at a wrestling match all day long and I'm here...by myself with Drake...all day long. Deep breath. So far, we're doing well. Oh yeah. Toby, our boxer puppy, is here too...this should make for an interesting day. He wants to play, Drake wants to eat, and I've got to work...I need to get used to this though. Starting Tuesday, we'll be making a habit out of being just the two...er, three of us!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I can't believe 2010 is already here. It's weird to say "I had a baby boy last year." Drake is now 3 and a half weeks old and weighs 9 lbs 8 ounces. 2009 was a great year, mostly since we found out we were pregnant, but there are a few things I could have done without...Charles being gone for 2 and a half months being the main thing. But, you take the good, you take the bad, and there you have...the facts of life. He will be going away again this year, only it will be for 3 months. But, I'm not going to dwell on the bad. I'm going to focus on all the milestones we will see together as Drake grows. This new year holds many mysteries in store for us and I look forward to seeing what they are! Hopefully, they will be good mysteries! Yay 2010!

New Beginnings

Wow. I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last posted. But, I figure since I only have 2 followers so far, you understand. :) Time for an update!

Thanksgiving was great. Family came all the way from Michigan to celebrate the holiday. All through that week, we patiently awaited the arrival of our little one. No such luck. Turns out the baby didn't want to make an early appearance.

My family (goofballs!)

So, my parents stayed after the holiday. We waited. And waited. And waited. My due date came and went without so much as one little contraction. Or so I thought. I went to the doctor's office 3 times in the week that the baby was due. I had 2 contractions but did not feel them. Looking back, wouldn't that have been grand?

So, we induced. Monday, December 7, we went in at 8:00 at night. The next morning at 9:00 am, we began the induction. I had been having contractions all night and did not feel anything. I had high hopes. Those high hopes were smashed to pieces around 2:00 the next day. Yowza!!! I received my epidural at that time. After that, I was gooooood. I labored for about 10 1/2 hours and we began pushing shortly before 8:00 pm on December 8. The baby was turned the wrong way (not breech, but his face was facing the wrong direction). I was turning every which way in that bed in order to avoid a c-section. At 9:31 pm, Drake Matthew Reynolds was born. He weighed 9 lbs even and was 21 1/2 inches long! I love my beautiful baby boy!! We are so excited for these new adventures we are about to embark on... :)

Let the festivities begin!

It's Friday! My mom and dad are traveling from Florida today to spend an unspecified amount of time with us. I'm so excited!! It's going to be a busy week. Relatives from all over are coming to our house to celebrate Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for. Family, friends, an amazing husband who loves me beyond belief, and a sweet baby on the way. I can't wait to see everyone! On a sadder note, this is the first Thanksgiving I we will have without both of my grandmothers. Grandma Lois passed in December 2008 and Grandma Sophie passed in February 2009. We miss them so much!

Blow it out your ears...

...steam, that is. Why is it when I want to get things done, something has to stop me? All I want is a clean house. But no. I can't clean with chemicals. But if I don't do it, it won't get done. So, am I putting my baby's life in jeopardy just so my shower floor won't be pink? I hope not. Pink shower floors are disgusting. So, on top of not being able to use chemicals (but doing so in moderation), our crazy dog thinks its fun to jump on me. And not on my legs or anything like that. He's just big and clumsey enough to reach my belly. So, now I'm freaking out that our baby is going to be born with paw prints all over him/her. I joke about that, but I'm really concerned. But, apparently I'm the only one who will play with the dog. Then, when he does something wrong, I'm the one who gets to yell at him. Then I'm the one who feels bad. So, after I get finished crying about my baby with paw prints and my pink shower floor and my nasty, gross house that just gets grosser, and my dog that just won't listen, I'm going to take a shower (in the clean bathroom) and try to relax. The last thing I need is to go into labor earlier than my baby needs. It feels good to vent.
